Last year, my friend John and I had a conversation about attending The Final Four this since it would be held in Houston. John is a huge college basketball fan and I knew that attending the tournament would mean a lot to him. After our conversation, we were both enthusiastic about making this once in a lifetime opportunity happen. But unfortunate circumstances put the breaks on our enthusiasm.
John’s wife was diagnosed with cancer and he was devastated. Instead of focusing his time and energy to getting the best Final Four tickets, he dedicated himself to caring for his wife and family. It was a tough period, but John and his wife persevered through the treatment and uncertainty.
After many difficult days, John’s wife was declared cancer free, but that wasn’t the end of his fight. He’s been a vocal advocate for organizations that support cancer victims and he’s organized several bike rides to raise money for cancer research.
Seeing all that he’s been through inspired me try to make his dream of attending the Final Four a reality, and AT&T has given me an outlet to do that.
